Fields of Activity

Our activities concentrate on four fields. These reflect the demands made on the Foundation.

1. Knowledge accumulation and implementation

• Promoting publications by supporting them financially and with content,e.g. studies, expert reports, technical articles
• Promoting innovative research projects,e.g. development of early-warning or prevention systems
• Promoting initial and further training
• Promoting of research, e. g. installing a chair at a United Nations University

2. Clarification and sensitisation

• Dialogue and communication,e.g. presentations, symposia, dialogue forums, exhibitions
• Providing information and materials,e.g. brochures, folders, internet presence
• Training courses and seminars,e.g. distribution of information to schools and training centers

3. Networking

• Networking of experts, coupling of specialist knowledge,e.g. developing emergency disaster plans and building regulations in risk areas
• Establishing contacts and expert networks,e. g. GTZ, UNEP, World Bank, universities, GOs and NGOs
• Involvement in/with initiatives, memberships,e.g. panels, associations, forums, committees

4. Direct help and support

• Project support,e.g. financing of part projects such as support for early-warning systems,training; provision of items such as radios, medical bags
• Local projects,e.g. shelter construction in a developing country, help with self-help projects
• Immediate aid,e.g. donations for people in need, financing of rescue measures
