Project Guidelines

We participate exclusively in projects that are compatible with the purpose of the foundation, our guiding principles and the following guidelines.

Project proposal

If you intend to send us a project proposal, please bear in mind the points outlined in the following guidelines. Please complete the project proposal form (see download area on the right) and forward it to info@munichre-foundation.org.

Dates and organisational details
  • Due to the volume of applications, we only accept funding applications that have been submitted using our project proposal form. Additional information and materials may be attached.
  • The project proposals are gathered and reviewed each quarter. Decisions on grants are announced in April, July, October and January of the respective year.
  • Decisions outside these dates are not feasible for organisational reasons. Please therefore submit your applications for funding in good time.
Our projects
  • start with knowledge on “people at risk” and lead to action.
  • are groundbreaking and exemplary, provide the necessary impulses and are open to emulation.
  • tap into potential for sustainable development in global change.
  • should be placed in a broader context (linking various topics).
  • indicate long-term solutions.
  • prepare people for risks and improve their living conditions.Projects can be regional, national or international.

Preferential support will be given to projects that have model character and can be replicated.

Proposed projects will be scrutinised as to their feasibility and chances of success subject to our project guidelines. Projects will be evaluated during and after their performance (transparent controlling). Our project partners aim for sustained success. They offer a clear perspective for the period after the project has been financed and supported.

In order to ensure the success of the project in connection with activities in developing countries, the Foundation will give preferential support to more mature projects (in terms of infrastructure, commitments, etc.) conducted by experienced project carriers.

What we do not sponsor

You can save us and yourselves a lot of work if you consider the following criteria that preclude sponsorship:

  • Conferences/symposiums organised by other institutions (financial contributions)
  • Major events involving a large number of other sponsors/pools
  • Travel costs for unrelated activities
  • Publications/printing costs outside the scope of our projects
