Dialogue forums 2009/2010 "World in flux" The forgotten billionsThe state of the world economy dominates the media, politics, and the public debate. As a consequence, important issues of global significance are all too easily pushed to the sidelines. These include international development policy, the growing levels of poverty in many countries, and climate change. Especially in a time of reorientation, however, we must not lose sight of these topics. Agenda 21 and the UN’s Millennium Development Goals have long provided us with guidelines for sustainable development. These must be taken into account when adopting measures to overcome the worldwide economic crisis. In the dialogue forums “World in flux – The forgotten billions”, we will highlight these global challenges and discuss possible solutions. The forthcoming 2009/2010 dialogue forum series will be the fifth of its kind hosted in Munich by the Munich Re Foundation. Five evening sessions will provide a platform for more than 100 participants to learn about the facts and backgrounds through open dialogue. High-ranking experts will discuss opportunities for sustainable solutions, and clarify common misconceptions. Rather than exchanging conflicting views in contentious debates, our aim is to highlight interdependencies and raise awareness. > You can register here (German) The maximum number of participants has been exceeded for all events.
