Enough to gladden the heart of any economics minister: some 70 pupil-run companies showed true entrepreneurial spirit and creativity with their highly original business ideas for the go!clean eco-project competition. The event was organised by the Munich Re Foundation and the Zeitbild Stiftung under the patronage of the German environment ministry.

“Climate expedition”, a project conceived by the German environmental and development organisation, Germanwatch, brings day-by-day views of the earth captured from space into the classroom. The Munich Re Foundation is supporting this educational initiative, which is designed to make young people more aware of climate change.

This national competition, which attracted entries from around 26,000 German schools, invited young people to devote their energies to finding ways of protecting the climate. The prizes were presented to the twelve national winners at a ceremony held in Berlin on 26 April. The Munich Re Foundation sponsored a special prize.

"Young people with boundless energy – Protect the climate!" was the motto of a national campaign launched by the German Federal Environment Ministry. Pupils had to apply their knowledge about climate change, energy and energy efficiency in developing proposed solutions – from knowledge to action.
