Gabrielle Tomchinsky, Consultant, USAGabrielle Tomchinsky is an independent consultant with more than 20 years of experience in international insurance and microinsurance. She worked as an international insurance broker for premier firms in New York and Buenos Aires. As a global insurance broker for Aon, she designed property and casualty programs covering over 50 countries for U.S. multinationals including American Express. As a facultative reinsurance broker she placed a broad array of risks ranging from the construction of cities in the Saudi Arabian desert to the launching of satellites into space. Eager to use her experience to serve low income families, she entered the field of microfinance in 1999 working with FINCA in Washington DC. Ms. Tomchinsky conceived and developed a microinsurance strategy which included the exploration of alternate structures for a worldwide program to cover affiliates in 19 countries. She later joined ACCION as Senior Director of Microinsurance and developed a strategy to maximize ACCION’s impact on the sound advancement of the industry. This included targeting investments in microinsurance models that were innovative, client-driven, competitive, profitable and could be replicated in other countries. A native of the U.S., Ms. Tomchinsky holds a B.A. in French Language and Culture from SUNY Purchase. Fluent in Spanish and French, she also has a working knowledge of Portuguese. Her primary focus has been the Latin American region. |
