Publications of our UNU-EHS chair project

We have funded the UNU-EHS Chair on Social Vulnerability in Bonn since 2005. The focus of the chair project is on scientific research in the broad field of social vulnerability, with particular emphasis on climate-induced migration. The results are regularly published. This page provides an overview of the available UNU-EHS publications in this field.

* The SOURCE series offers its audience of students, scholars, and professionals in-depth information within the area of environment and human security. This series publishes interdisciplinary reports, dissertations, and other educational text prepared by the UNU-EHS and its academic officers, with support from UNU-EHS-related research universities, and adheres to the goal of the UNU to produce policy relevant knowledge. SOURCE has thoroughly examined such topics as social vulnerability, environmental governance, and gender security, so that scientists can address the complex questions that arise in these subcategories of environment and human security.

** The publication series InterSecTions is a collection of thought-provoking articles, essays and other concise scientific publications that represent the problems and possible solutions related to the principles of UNU-EHS and its motto of “Advancing human security through knowledge-based approaches to reducing vulnerability and environmental risks”. The title InterSecTions is used in reference to the junction of disciplines, concepts, methods, thoughts and solutions that scientists confront in the field of human and environment security. It is the goal, therefore, of this series to inform the audience in general and policymakers and decision makers especially about cause-effect relationships in the field, suggest potential solutions to reduce vulnerabilities, expand the common knowledge base regarding natural and man-made hazards in the environment and support the ideals and policies set forth from research within the discipline.
